Food bricks
Food cartons are complex packaging made up of 2 to 3 materials depending on their applications:
- the cardboard which ensures rigidity
- polyethylene which helps fight against humidity and ensures waterproofing
- a thin aluminum foil for extended shelf life packaging requiring an oxygen and light barrier.
Pre-sort
A pre-sorting is carried out by:
- The consumer who places his food cartons in local containers or at home, in sorting bags provided for this purpose.
- Manufacturers who store defective bricks or scrap bricks in containers such as skips or compactors.
Collection
Containers are handled by specific vehicles to be transported to our approved processing centers.
Life cycle
Treatment
The food cartons are separated from other packaging and then packaged into bales to be shipped to recycling plants.
Recycling and recovery
The processing of food cartons follows the same process as that of paper and cardboard: pulping and deinking.
